Tools

The Dent Lab has generated a few different tools to use for use that are publically available. If you are interested in using any of them they are available through Addgene. If you have additional questions, please contact us

Double UP

Double UP is a Red/Green plasmid used to generate internal controls when combined with a technique such as in utero electroporation. We use this tool frequently, and can offer good support and advice to go with it.

MTED

MicroTubule Elimination Domain, this is a small peptide sequence taken from Drosophila Efa6. It is a potent microtubule depolymerizer, and we use it frequently. Attaching it to LifeAct allows for specific targeting to dendritic spines, to inhibit microtubule invasion. We can offer good support and advice to go with it

Addgene #217498, 217499

Holland et al., 2024

TRON

TRON is a computer program designed to quantify neuronal migration on a cell-by-cell basis, and is especially potent when combined with Double UP. We use this tool frequently, but have found that it is especially well suited to the ways in which we image and quantify. It has less broad use than we initially hoped, but we will be happy to teach and offer support to determine if it will work for you

Knockdown/Replacement

This is a set of plasmid tools designed to offer shRNA and replacement at roughly endogenous levels, through the use of attenuator sequences. This is not a tool we use currently, and so our support may be more limited.
